Viontri v0.2.0 Makes Everything Smoother

Viontri v0.2 cover art

Viontri v0.2.0 focuses on refinement. The interface was rearranged, the library reworked, and frequently requested features such as undo redo are now available. Because Viontri is still in 0.x, some buttons and features may change between versions. The full list is in the changelog.

A tidier library

The library browser is now divided into sections. Standard Assets holds basic objects such as characters, cameras, lights, and shapes, with skin options adjustable before an object is added. My Library stores assets you have imported for use across projects. Because it is a cache, assets can occasionally be cleared by the device and need re-importing. The Mine-imator library gets model fixes, timeline-following animated blocks, and a block dimension option. Free assets from Quaternius, Kenney, and iPoly3D are also available.

New GLB, GLTF, and OBJ formats

Viontri can now import GLB, GLTF, and OBJ models. If textures or supporting files such as .bin and .mtl are missing, the import panel marks them so they can be completed before the model joins the scene. Skeletons and built-in animations in GLB and GLTF are also read and usable, though support is still basic.

Undo, redo, and history

Undo and redo are finally here in the top toolbar, next to a history panel. The panel records up to 50 steps, including bulk keyframe changes, so you can return to the Initial State or to any point.

Materials and object settings

Object properties grow with material settings (roughness and reflection), a custom color picker, and cast and receive shadow options. Transform gains copy, paste, and reset. Characters get a built-in face rig, and textures on basic shapes can be set in more detail. In the global tab, the sun and clouds are now adjustable.

A rearranged interface

Gizmo buttons moved to the left side, export and project buttons were merged into their own menus, and the timeline time display was rearranged. Touchscreen support improved, including press-and-hold context menus. Settings are now a dedicated popup with new options such as mobile control, viewport auto center, and keyboard shortcuts. The save project feature is still being fixed.
