Viontri v0.3.0 Was Worth Waiting For

Viontri v0.3.0 is officially released with several long-awaited features, from camera effects to in-app project saving. This article summarizes the main points, while the full list is in the changelog.

Cameras with their own effects

The camera now carries ten new post-processing effects. Depth of Field, God Rays, Vignette, Pixelation, Lens Distortion, Chromatic Aberration, Halftone, Film Grain, Motion Trail, and Heat Wave each have their own settings and can be animated through keyframes. Orbit mode and walk mode (WASD, with an on-screen D-pad on touch devices) round out the camera movement options.

Audio and video on the timeline

Audio and video now come as timeline tracks that can be trimmed, split, and adjusted for volume and speed. Audio supports global output for music and narration, plus spatial output for sound that follows an object’s position.

Characters and limb bends

Character skins are now extruded into 3D, with an added female face type and fingers. One change to know is that limb bends are now sharp by default, including in older projects. The smooth style can still be chosen in settings.

Sky, moon, and Environment

The sky has three phases, Day, Transition, and Night, and supports your own skybox. The moon is now its own object with phases and light. Custom biome colors for grass, foliage, and water can also be keyframed. The new Environment object lets global settings such as sky color, fog, and biome be animated, for example a day-to-night transition in a single shot.

Schematics and import formats

Schematics now support resource packs, including PBR, as well as Bedrock .mcstructure files. Blocks such as doors and chests can move through interactable blocks. The import list grows with .bbmodel from Blockbench, .json for Minecraft Java models, .geo.json for Bedrock, .fbx, .miobject from Mine-imator, and .zip for resource pack bundles, though .miproject import is still partial so not every project opens yet.

Project saving

Projects can now be saved directly in the app and appear in the main menu alongside autosaves and online templates. Projects with missing files show a missing-dependency popup. Export also gains codec, bitrate, and MKV options, plus a time range set in the export panel that stays in sync with the export range on the timeline.
